What Do Whales Dream About At Night? es la búsqueda de una respuesta que nos dirija al entendimiento de que la tangente será la línea que nos dirija a la mención o posible presencia de aquella persona que, por diferentes variables, ya no está en nuestra vida.

This song was inspired by the poem ‘Headphones’by Ukrainian poet Serhiy Zhadan. Zhadan’s poem takes place during the previous war in Ukraine. The protagonist is a poet, who escapes the harsh realities of the war happening around him by putting on his headphones and tuning out the world. There’s a line «think of whales in the ocean at night» that I found incredibly evocative. I wrote all the lyrics in one go after reading that line.
Esta canción se inspiró en el poema ‘Headphones‘ del poeta ucraniano Serhiy Zhadan. El poema de Zhadan tiene lugar durante la guerra anterior en Ucrania. El protagonista es un poeta, que escapa de las duras realidades de la guerra que sucede a su alrededor poniéndose los auriculares y desconectándose del mundo. Hay una línea «pienso en las ballenas en el océano por la noche» que encontré increíblemente evocadora. Escribí toda la letra de una sola vez después de leer esa línea.

I wrote this song pre-pandemic to perform in a show with the Bushwick Book Club, a performance series where songwriters read the same book, write a song about it and perform it at a public show. This show was at the Ukrainian Museum in New York and Serhiy Zhadan was a special guest. It was an honor to meet him and perform this song for him. I follow him on Instagram. Escribí esta canción antes de la pandemia para presentarla en un espectáculo con el Bushwick Book Club, una serie de actuaciones donde los compositores leen el mismo libro, escriben una canción sobre él y la interpretan en un espectáculo público. Este espectáculo fue en el Museo de Ucrania en Nueva York y Serhiy Zhadan fue un invitado especial. Fue un honor conocerlo e interpretar esta canción para él. Lo sigo en Instagram.
