Pennies by the Pound tienen ya en circulación su nuevo sencillo, disponible en plataformas digitales como Apple Music, Spotify, y Bandcamp, el cual es el primer adelanto de Nothingside, su siguiente álbum, masterizado por Mark Gardener en su OX4Sound Studio en Oxford, producidos por Rauli ‘Rake’ Eskolin, fórmula que trabajara su Heat Death of the Universe, álbum que promocionaran con Indigo Screams y The Waters como temas promocionales.

Burning Wish es el ideal de vida que, ante la cambiante geografía e iconografía de nuestra localidad, no deja de resonar en nuestros corazones a manera de nostalgia por un futuro en el que estaríamos mucho mejor.

Sometime last year, as it seemed that the pandemic would not be over anytime soon and it was apparent we wouldn’t be able to focus on playing live shows for a while, we decided just to keep recording more music. Luckily, I had quite a lot of inspiration for new material and we started putting songs together in late summer, with Alexander Meaney joining in as an additional guitarist. Although it doesn’t necessarily show in this particular song, I’d been immersing myself heavily in Genesis (both Gabriel and Collins eras), and that influenced the up and coming album – called ‘Nothingside’ – a lot.
En algún momento del año pasado, como parecía que la pandemia no terminaría pronto y era evidente que no podríamos concentrarnos en tocar en vivo por un tiempo, decidimos seguir grabando más música. Afortunadamente, tuve mucha inspiración para material nuevo y comenzamos a armar canciones a fines del verano, con Alexander Meaney uniéndose como guitarrista adicional. Aunque no se muestra necesariamente en esta canción en particular, me había clavado mucho en Genesis (tanto en la era de Gabriel como en la de Collins), y eso influyó mucho en el próximo álbum, llamado ‘Nothingside’.

This is a concept album through and through (both lyrically and musically), containing an abstract story and all that. Thus, it was really hard to decide on any one song to represent the whole, but ‘Burning Wish’ probably hits closest to the mark. It has got bits and pieces of both the lyrical and the musical theme of the album. It’s also definitely a track that sounds a lot like what people probably would expect from us!
Este es un álbum conceptual de principio a fin (tanto lírica como musicalmente), que contiene una historia abstracta y todo eso. Por lo tanto, fue muy difícil decidirse por una sola canción para representar el todo, pero ‘Burning Wish’ probablemente da en el clavo. Tiene fragmentos tanto del tema lírico como musical del álbum. ¡Definitivamente también es una canción que suena mucho a lo que la gente probablemente esperaría de nosotros!
