The Sea at Midnight es el esfuerzo que Vince Grant ha puesto para aliviar una pesada carga de emociones y diversos intentos de sobrellevarlas cuándo no de extrapolarlas, de manera tal que luego de un tiempo trabajando en su música de forma casual y sin mayor planeación, llega al quinto sencillo de lo que originalmente sería un EP y que es ya, inminentemente, un LP que verá la luz en el Otoño próximo, mientras que éste tema llegará cómo single digital a plataformas el próximo 21 de Agosto.

We Share The Same Stars es la afirmación del explorador noctámbulo que se percibe extraviado en la jornada diurna pero que, pese a lo que las apariencias indiquen, sabe que no hay mucha diferencia entre él y sus semejantes, llevando la soledad a cuestas no cómo carga, sino cómo medida preventiva para distinguirse.

When working with Chris King, we approached every song asking “What is good for this song?” rather than “How can we make it sound like all the others or how can we make it sound like such and such band”. Each song has its own individual vibe and we didn’t want to rely on a sonic cookie cutter approach with the same musical template. That’s why I especially like bands such as The Cure and Depeche Mode. You know it’s them immediately, but each song has its own personality and style. If I strive for anything, it’s that – for The Sea At Midnight to be recognizable while, at the same time, each song has its own unique personality.
Cuando trabajamos con Chris King, iniciamos cada canción preguntando «¿Qué es bueno para esta canción?» en lugar de «¿Cómo podemos hacer que suene como todas las demás o cómo podemos hacer que suene como tal o cual banda?». Cada canción tiene su propia vibra individual y no queríamos confiar en un molde para cortar galletas sonoras con la misma plantilla musical. Por eso me gustan especialmente las bandas como The Cure y Depeche Mode. Sabes que son ellos de inmediato, pero cada canción tiene su propia personalidad y estilo. Si me esfuerzo por algo, es eso: que The Sea At Midnight sea reconocible mientras que, al mismo tiempo, cada canción tenga su propia personalidad única.

This release was never supposed to happen. I thought my days of playing in bands and recording were over. If it weren’t for fate, this record would have never been made. I had no intentions of recording ever again. For wont of a better word, the ‘dark’ scene is where I’m coming from. I also really feel a kinship to the cyberpunk esthetic. Lyrically many of the songs deal with my struggles with alcohol and drug addiction and coping with lifelong depression. I suppose there is a strong element of sadness to them, but I also feel they contain a glimmer of hope.
Se suponía que este lanzamiento nunca sucedería. Pensé que mis días de tocar en bandas y grabar habían terminado. Si no fuera por el destino, este disco nunca se habría hecho. No tenía intenciones de grabar nunca más. Para mejor entendimiento en una palabra, la escena «oscura» es de donde vengo. También siento un parentesco con la estética del cyberpunk. Líricamente, muchas de las canciones tratan sobre mi lucha contra la adicción al alcohol y las drogas y sobre cómo enfrentar la depresión de toda la vida. Supongo que hay un fuerte elemento de tristeza en ellas, pero también siento que contienen un rayo de esperanza.
