Shrinari presentó en 2021 su álbum debut, Hold On To The Hope, Though, el cual promocionara con los sencillos Standing Rock, The Gift y su correspondiente vídeo oficial, más como el disco es rico tanto en temas de fondo como musicalmente, Lucidia Omamori y Rafael Marchante Angulo nos presentan un nuevo sencillo, ya disponible en plataformas como Spotify y Apple Music, con el álbum completo ya a la venta en Bandcamp,acompañando éste lanzamiento con un vídeo bellamente realizado por Frida Wiita, sobre pietaje tomado por Scott Murden acerca de la tribu Huni Kuin de Brasil.

Listen Up es un llamado a la conciencia global, partiendo no de un pensamiento idílico, sino del razonamiento respecto a los alcances de la acción individual como parte de la sumatoria general, no en un acto aislado pero sí como una invitación a partir del ejemplo.

I read a book as a teenager, which incorporates two speeches by Native American Indians called “How can one sell the air?” (A manifesto for the Earth). It evoked an innate understanding in me as I always had a strong passion towards environmental causes. I really felt strongly about protecting the Earth and could not understand the choices we were making to go against this.
Leí un libro cuando era adolescente, que incorpora dos discursos de indios nativos americanos llamados «¿Cómo se puede vender el aire?» (Un manifiesto por la Tierra). Evocó una comprensión innata en mí, ya que siempre tuve una fuerte pasión por las causas ambientales. Realmente me sentía fuertemente acerca de proteger la Tierra y no podía entender las elecciones que estábamos haciendo para ir en contra de esto.

This book came to mind when I was writing the song, further influenced by our time shared with Huni Kuni people and Native Americans whose interconnectedness with Earth and respect for her as our mother rings true throughout my being. It was beautiful to share this at the Extinction Rebellion protests in London. I do hope the song inspires people to take environmental action in whatever ways they are able to.
Este libro me vino a la mente cuando estaba escribiendo la canción, influenciada aún más por nuestro tiempo compartido con la gente Huni Kuni y los nativos americanos, cuya interconexión con la Tierra y el respeto por ella como nuestra madre son verdaderos en todo mi ser. Fue hermoso compartir esto en las protestas de Extinction Rebellion en Londres. Espero que la canción inspire a las personas a tomar medidas ambientales de cualquier manera que puedan.

Creating ‘Listen Up’ was a beautiful adventure, it came out as quite experimental to start with, the initial version was a good 90 sec longer and featured an extended middle section. We decided to cut it down and then we reworked it completely, adding Idris Rahman’s lush horn section and recording some instruments again to take advantage of my improved recording skills two years on.
Crear ‘Listen Up’ fue una hermosa aventura, resultó bastante experimental al principio, la versión inicial era unos buenos 90 segundos más larga y presentaba una sección central extendida. Decidimos reducirla y luego la reelaboramos por completo, agregando la exuberante sección de vientos de Idris Rahman y grabando algunos instrumentos nuevamente para aprovechar mis mejores habilidades de grabación dos años después.

This song is about the obvious fact that, when you live in immediate and constant touch with nature, you have a naturally unshakeable connection with it and there are things you’d never do, let alone destroy the environment the way it is being destroyed due to our industrial level blindness. Again it’s not about some idilic idea, even though we love things idyllic: our very survival is in question. This is a recurring theme in our songs because it’s such an important issue. Probably the most important together with human rights violations around the world, which the indigenous defenders of ancestral lands and ways of life suffer constantly.
Esta canción trata sobre el hecho obvio de que, cuando vives en contacto inmediato y constante con la naturaleza, tienes una conexión naturalmente inquebrantable con ella y hay cosas que nunca harías, y mucho menos destruir el medio ambiente de la forma en que lo están destruyendo debido a nuestra ceguera a nivel industrial. Una vez más, no se trata de una idea idílica, aunque amamos las cosas idílicas: nuestra propia supervivencia está en entredicho. Este es un tema recurrente en nuestras canciones porque es un tema muy importante. Probablemente el más importante junto con las violaciones a los derechos humanos en todo el mundo, que sufren constantemente los indígenas defensores de sus tierras y modos de vida ancestrales.
