Shrinari está a unos días de presentar su álbum debut, Hold On To The Hope, Though, y mientras se llega la fecha del 26 de Noviembre, Lucidia Omamori y Rafael Marchante Angulo han venido promocionando The Gift y su correspondiente vídeo oficial, además de un nuevo avance de éste material, el cuál se encuentra ya disponible a manera de sencillo en plataformas como Spotify y Apple Music, siendo un tema que viene cargado de colaboraciones, además de una clara muestra de lo que podemos esperar del disco, mismo que se encuentra ya disponible como preventa en Bandcamp.

Standing Rock es la sensibilidad al tacto cuando alguien te pregunta respecto a tus responsabilidades, las cuales, más allá de lo que signifique la pretenciosa uniformidad de la sociedad de redes sociales, significan compromiso y acción de manera local e individual para sumar a un beneficio global que representa el futuro de aquéllos a quiénes precedes.

Standing Rock began as a poem inspired by the demonstrations in North Dakota. I was utterly devastated that the Standing rock Sioux tribe were being dishonoured and displaced by the construction of the pipeline that threatened to contaminate their water supply and indeed eventually did contaminate the water by leaking oil.
Standing Rock comenzó como un poema inspirado en las manifestaciones en Dakota del Norte. Estaba completamente devastada porque la tribu Sioux de Standing Rock estaba siendo deshonrada y desplazada por la construcción de la tubería que amenazaba con contaminar su suministro de agua y, de hecho, eventualmente contaminó el agua con fugas de aceite.

I was contemplating what it would be like as a parent on the reservation, wanting to protect your children from the police violence and at the same time having to risk your safety to preserve your home for the future generations to inherit, knowing you can not stand by and allow this cultural obliteration and destruction of the natural environment to occur on your watch. I was humbled by the bravery and dedication of the protestors who stood in a freezing cold river facing a row of police, despite being fired at by rubber bullets to protect a burial site.
Contemplaba cómo sería un padre en la reserva, queriendo proteger a sus hijos de la violencia policial y al mismo tiempo tener que arriesgar su seguridad para preservar su hogar para que las generaciones futuras lo hereden, sabiendo que no puede soportar ni permitir que esta destrucción cultural y devastación del medio ambiente natural ocurra bajo su vigilancia. Me sentí honrada por la valentía y la dedicación de los manifestantes que se pararon en un río helado frente a una fila de policías, a pesar de haber recibido disparos de balas de goma para proteger un espacio funerario.

This song means a lot to us. Both Lucidia and I care greatly about environmental issues and social causes and we both connect deeply with the native cultures of North America and their spiritual ways of relating to the planet and the elements that sustain us all. When the Standing Rock protests against the North Dakota access pipeline began in late 2016 we couldn’t be there, but we could use our artistry to echo the fight for indigenous rights to defend their culture and sacred sites from polluting industries and for the preservation of water sources.
Esta canción significa mucho para nosotros. Tanto Lucidia como yo nos preocupamos mucho por los problemas ambientales y las causas sociales, y ambos nos conectamos profundamente con las culturas nativas de América del Norte y sus formas espirituales de relacionarse con el planeta y los elementos que nos sostienen a todos. Cuando las protestas de Standing Rock contra el oleoducto de acceso a Dakota del Norte comenzaron a fines de 2016, no pudimos estar allí, pero podríamos usar nuestro arte para hacer eco de la lucha por los derechos indígenas para defender su cultura y sitios sagrados de las industrias contaminantes, y para la preservación de fuentes de agua.

Lucidia wrote the song as a duet with Heren Wolf, who’s a really beautiful singer and matches very well both the style of the song and Lucidia’s voice. I created the arrangement and then the song was on standby for almost four years until ‘Hold On To The Hope, Though’ began taking shape. In fact it was the last song we decided to include. We had the privilege to work with notable Spanish drummer Edu Olmedo, and the sublime horn section from Brixton’s reggae, dub and afrobeat band The Soothsayers.
Lucidia escribió la canción a dúo con Heren Wolf, quien es una cantante realmente hermosa y encaja muy bien tanto con el estilo de la canción como con la voz de Lucidia. Creé el arreglo y luego la canción estuvo en espera durante casi cuatro años hasta que ‘Hold On To The Hope, Though’ comenzó a tomar forma. De hecho fue la última canción que decidimos incluir. Tuvimos el privilegio de trabajar con el notable baterista español Edu Olmedo, y la sublime sección de vientos de la banda de reggae, dub y afrobeat de Brixton The Soothsayers.
