6TH CROWD: You’re Not an Island

6TH CROWD es el alías que Dari Maksymova creara para presentar su música de forma individual, misma que hemos conocido gracias a los sencillos The Day is Over y Самозванцы’ (Samozvantsiy), temas que son parte del Avoid The Void EP, material que estará en circulación el próximo 15 de Mayo y del cual nos presenta un nuevo tema.

You’re Not an Island es una canción que refiere a la soledad, no propiamente como parte de una necesidad individual, sino de algo derivado de la naturaleza humana que nos lleva a una búsqueda personal junto con la creación de espacios íntimos a los que nos reducimos cuando creemos que no hay vida inteligente allá afuera.

Todos nos volvimos un poco locos aquí en un mes de encierro, ¿eh? Muchas gracias y todos el crédito a mis amigos por volverse locos en el video y por ser increíblemente pacientes conmigo en estos días.
The lyrical part of it is exceptionally minimalistic. In fact, it’s just John Donne’s quote, «no man is an island entire of itself,» and the phrase «you’re not an island.» The last one is repeated in Ukrainian, Portuguese, German, French, two types of Spanish, Chinese, and Hebrew. That’s pretty much dance music, voices just give us the feeling that we’re not alone. Even if you’re here in your bedroom all alone, you should remember that there are thousands of people in their rooms across the world feeling just as lonely as you do. And that unites.
La parte lírica es excepcionalmente minimalista. De hecho, es solo la cita de John Donne, «ningún hombre es una isla en sí misma», y la frase «no eres una isla». El último se repite en ucraniano, portugués, alemán, francés, dos tipos de español, chino y hebreo. Esto es más o menos música dance, las voces simplemente nos dan la sensación de que no estamos solos. Incluso si estás solo en tu habitación, debes recordar que hay miles de personas en sus habitaciones en todo el mundo que se sienten tan solitarias como tú. Y eso une.
The song had been sitting in my hard drive for a year. And the description above was written in early February when Ukraine had no clue about the imminent pandemic. I always write music for myself, to get something I need from it – courage, support, relief. But I had no idea how much will I need this one. If you feel scared, tired, and a bit lost – take my hand, we all together here.
La canción había estado en mi disco duro durante un año. Y la descripción anterior se escribió a principios de febrero cuando Ucrania no tenía idea de la inminente pandemia. Siempre escribo música para mí, para obtener algo que necesito de ella: coraje, apoyo, alivio. Pero no tenía idea de cuánto necesitaría esta. Si te sientes asustado, cansado y un poco perdido, toma mi mano, estamos todos juntos aquí.
