Gramercy Arms es una banda que llegara a nuestra audiencia en 2022 con Yesterday’s Girl, canción que fungiera como primer adelanto del Deleted Scenes, álbum editado en 2023, regresando ahora con el sencillo que anuncia la llegada de The Making Of The Making Of, su siguiente disco a lanzarse en Abril 26, con Dave Derby (The Dambuilders, Lloyd Cole) y Ray Ketchem (Elk City, Guided By Voices, Luna) acompañados en éste tema por Kevin March (Guided by Voices, Shudder to Think, The Dambuilders), Hilken Mancini (Fuzzy, the Monsieurs), Rainy Orteca (Joan As Police Woman, Dead Air) y Mike Errico, el cual es complementado por un vídeo realizado por Max Skaff, en el que los también integrantes de la banda, Jessie Kilguss, Renée LoBue, Richard Alwyn Fisher, Ray Ketchem, Dave Derby, Sean Eden, Gary Burton, Claudia Chopek, Lysa Opfer, y Phoebe Summersquash se muestran con la vida nocturna de Manhattan y Brooklyn como fondo, estando ésta canción ya disponible en plataformas online como Apple Music, Spotify, Bandcamp y demás, mientras el nuevo disco se encuentra ya disponible en pre venta.

After The After Party es la pregunta que queda en el aire luego de que la suerte finalmente te hiciera conectar con quien largamente has añorado sea el objeto de tu afecto, de manera tal que la respuesta que esperas desvele el misterio respecto a si éste encuentro es un rendez vous, un mero affaire, o el principio del comienzo que llevas esperando durante tanto tiempo, sea revelada a partir de la inminente correspondencia.

I had the tune and general structure of the song lying around for a long time. For a long time I had the opening line ‘Do you suppose the door was already closed?” and the general vibe of the song but not much else. The song title and lyrical concept came for me while sitting at a bar in Brooklyn and overhearing a group of people talk about what they were going to do after an afterparty they were attending that night. I thought that that was a great title and general concept to anchor the song around. The song is about two people who’ve been chasing after each other for years but the stars never align until this one fated night where they are chasing after some magic that has been eluding them.

The “somewhere out on along the seven” line in the middle eight came from another overheard comment I wrote in a notebook somewhere. “Where does she live?” “Somewhere out on the 7 … in Queens». I played the guitar solo, thinking it was a placeholder but Ray Ketchem, Kevin March and I fell in love with it and kept it.

Tuve la melodía y la estructura general de la canción por mucho tiempo. Durante mucho tiempo oí la frase inicial: “¿Crees que la puerta ya estaba cerrada?” y la vibra general de la canción, pero no mucho más. El título de la canción y el concepto lírico se me ocurrieron mientras estaba sentado en un bar en Brooklyn y escuchaba a un grupo de personas hablar sobre lo que iban a hacer después de una fiesta posterior a la que asistirían esa noche. Pensé que era un gran título y concepto general para anclar la canción. La canción trata sobre dos personas que se han estado persiguiendo durante años, pero las estrellas nunca se alinean hasta esta noche predestinada en la que están persiguiendo una magia que los ha estado eludiendo.

La línea «en algún lugar a lo largo del siete» en el medio octavo provino de otro comentario que escuché por casualidad y que escribí en un cuaderno en alguna parte. «¿Dónde vive?» “En algún lugar del 7… en Queens». Toqué el solo de guitarra, pensando que era un marcador de posición, pero Ray Ketchem, Kevin March y yo nos enamoramos de él y lo conservamos.
