Elk City tiene ya en circulación el Above the Water LP en plataformas como Apple Music, Tidal, Qobuz, Spotify, y Bandcamp, apoyando éste material en sencillos como That Someone, su correspondiente vídeo oficial, Your Time Doesn’t Exist, y el tema que te reseñamos a continuación, el cual es sujeto de contraste en su vídeo promocional, que si bien va en función de la música y letra, en su narrativa lleva un mensaje más que claro y que no es más que el recordatorio de llevar una dieta sana y comer lo que te toca cuando te toca.

Apology Song es el recuento de los daños causados por el silencio y la propia indecisión cuando estos obligan a dejar pasar lo que pudo ser el escape a la infelicidad y la tristeza que hoy te envuelven por lo que, si bien el «hubiera» no existe, no te queda más opción que resignarte al remordimiento que te provoca haber dejado pasar tal oportunidad.

Apology Song is probably Elk City’s most well-crafted song to date. Straight up songwriting craftsmanship. I came up with the chorus late in the game. The band wanted something more, something additional to sink their musical teeth into. They asked me to come up with an add-on to the parts that were already there. That’s when I came up with the part that says, “I’m sorry. I did it. I got all caught up in my head. I’m sorry, you know it. My head got caught up in that thing”, I’ve never written a lyric so simplistic, yet meaningful. Both off-the-cuff and relatable AF.
Apology Song es probablemente la canción mejor elaborada de Elk City hasta la fecha. Artesanía de composición directa. Se me ocurrió el coro al final del juego. La banda quería algo más, algo adicional en lo que hincarle el diente musical. Me pidieron que creara un complemento para las partes que ya estaban allí. Fue entonces cuando se me ocurrió la parte que dice: “Lo siento. Lo hice. Me quedé atrapado en mi cabeza. Lo siento, lo sabes. Mi cabeza quedó atrapada en esa cosa”, nunca he escrito una letra tan simple, pero significativa. Tan ALV de improvisado y referenciable.

I’ve had this concept and have wanted to direct this video for a while now. I describe the video as «A sensual comedy packed with nutrition». As ‘Apology Song’ is heavy on drama, we knew we needed to go lighter/comedic with a video for the song. It’s the visual wack-a-doo companion that balances the song’s «heart on sleeve» message. Eat your fruits and vegetables, kids!
He tenido este concepto y he querido dirigir este video desde hace un tiempo. Describo el video como «Una comedia sensual llena de nutrición». Como ‘Apology Song’ tiene mucho drama, sabíamos que necesitábamos ser más ligeros y cómicos con un video para la canción. Es el compañero visual loco que equilibra el mensaje de «corazón en la manga» de la canción. ¡Coman sus frutas y verduras, niños!
