Black Nite Crash es una banda que para anunciar la llegada de Washed in the Sound with Black Nite Crash con The Take a manera de anticipo del álbum disponible en plataformas como Apple Music, Spotify, y Bandcamp, abriendo la antesala para el LP que llegará en Octubre 14 a través del sello Neon Sigh, continuando la promoción de éste material con un vídeo más que acorde al perfil que describe la canción en su letra.

Sugarwave es la necesidad de conciliar el desahogo onírico que significan los sueños y su contraste con la realidad, que si bien son reflejo de lo que llevamos dentro y como procesamos esto en la vida diaria, lo cierto es que en ocasiones no son sino la centrifugadora trabajando en nuestros miedos e inseguridades respecto a la validez de nuestras acciones en la existencia cotidiana.

The lyrics for ‘Sugarwave’ started out as scenes from a dream wherein my husband pulled some rather out-of-character capers. It got me thinking about dreams he’s told me about, where I did strange or terrible things, and what that might mean about our perception of each other — and even whether there was some hidden truth to the dreams. The song eventually developed into an impression of the gap between people’s true internal selves and how everyone else perceives us, and the attempt to bridge that gap, impossible as it may be. But the desire to be known can be at odds with the allure of likes and compliments and approvals and little dopamine hits — and that’s the Sugarwave.
La letra de ‘Sugarwave’ comenzó como escenas de un sueño en el que mi esposo hizo algunas travesuras bastante fuera de lugar. Me hizo pensar en los sueños que me contó, en los que hice cosas extrañas o terribles, y lo que eso podría significar sobre nuestra percepción mutua, e incluso si había alguna verdad oculta en los sueños. La canción finalmente se convirtió en una impresión de la brecha entre el verdadero ser interno de las personas y cómo nos perciben los demás, y el intento de cerrar esa brecha, por imposible que sea. Pero el deseo de ser conocido puede estar reñido con el encanto de los me gusta, los cumplidos, las aprobaciones y los pequeños golpes de dopamina, y eso es Sugarwave.

The energy of the song is undeniable – we can’t keep still while playing it. We haven’t done anything quite like it in a while. It’s another piece on the new record that feels, for us, like a bit of a departure from the last few albums. We’ve been trying to let the songs just come and guide us rather than trying to force things to sound like some preconceived notion of what the band should sound like.
La energía de la canción es innegable: no podemos quedarnos quietos mientras la tocamos. Hacía tiempo que no hacíamos nada parecido. Es otra pieza en el nuevo disco que se siente, para nosotros, como una pequeña desviación de los últimos álbumes. Hemos estado tratando de dejar que las canciones simplemente vengan y nos guíen en lugar de tratar de forzar las cosas para que suenen como una noción preconcebida de cómo debería sonar la banda.
