Revolution Above Disorder es el alías con el que Stephen Nicholas White (The Orange Kyte, House of Dolls, Magic Shoppe) nos presentara sencillos tales como Illuminate, su correspondiente Delta Omega Remix, y Scream Quietly su cover a Television Personalities, materiales disponibles en Apple Music, Spotify, y Bandcamp, más luego de superar algunas dificultades, regresa con un nuevo sencillo, producido mezclado en Jacknife Sound por Jason Corbett de ACTORS, masterizado por el legendario Mark Gardener en su OX4 Sound Studio en Oxford, Inglaterra, el cual nos presenta como extras un par de remixes a cargo de Jagz Kooner (Primal Scream, Oasis, Kasabian, The Charlatans, Soulwax, The Kills, Massive Attack, Ladytron), y Colm Rutledge AKA Noise Baby, teniendo como fecha programada de lanzamiento el próximo 25 de Mayo, disponible como preventa en Bandcamp.

Annihilator es la llamada de alerta que se refleja en el hastio y el abandono que haces de ti mismo cuando encuentras que no tienes mayor intención ni necesidad de hacer algo más que existir, limitando tus labores a aquello estrictamente necesario para sustentar tus funciones básicas y calmar el dolor emocional.

Annihilator was originally conceived of as an uptempo post-punk song a number of years back when writing the second House of Dolls record, which ultimately never saw the light of day. Rediscovered in a treasure trove of demos back in 2020 as I was conceptualizing Revolution Above Disorder, Annihilator soon metamorphosed into a whole different beast. Working again with Jason Corbett at Jacknife Sound, we slowed the track down to allow it to breathe and, in doing so, a whole new incarnation of the track began to crystallize.
Annihilator se concibió originalmente como una canción post-punk uptempo hace varios años cuando se escribió el segundo disco de House of Dolls, que finalmente nunca vio la luz del día. Redescubierta en un tesoro oculto de demos en 2020 cuando estaba conceptualizando Revolution Above Disorder, Annihilator pronto se transformó en una bestia completamente diferente. Trabajando nuevamente con Jason Corbett en Jacknife Sound, redujimos la velocidad de la pista para permitirle respirar y, al hacerlo, comenzó a cristalizar una nueva encarnación de la pista.

At the time I was heavily into rediscovering the sounds of first wave trip-hop and nineties UK big beat… and as ever, the ubiquitous spectre of krautrock loomed heavily at the forefront of my mind. These influences wormed their way into Annihilator as we focused on the building of subtle layers to create a rising tension over the course of the track. The song was built over top of a sci-fi synth bassline, underpinned at its core by acoustic guitar. ACTORS’ drummer Adam Fink responded to the call and nailed the drum track. Mat Durie was summoned in to add some bowed-guitar, lending the track the droned-out atmospherics that it was crying out for.
En ese momento, estaba muy interesado en redescubrir los sonidos de la primera ola del trip-hop y el big beat británico de los noventa… y, como siempre, el omnipresente espectro del krautrock se cernía fuertemente en mi mente. Estas influencias se abrieron camino en Annihilator mientras nos enfocábamos en la construcción de capas sutiles para crear una tensión creciente en el transcurso de la pista. La canción se construyó sobre una línea de bajo de sintetizador de ciencia ficción, respaldada en su núcleo por una guitarra acústica. El baterista de ACTORS, Adam Fink, respondió a la llamada y clavó la pista de batería. Mat Durie fue convocado para agregar un poco de guitarra con arco, lo que le dio a la pista la atmósfera zumbante que estaba pidiendo a gritos.
