The Noise Who Runs es el proyecto que se genera a partir de Ian Pickering (Sneaker Pimps, Front Line Assembly), nativo de Hartlepool en el noreste de Inglaterra, quien dejara su marca en Sneaker Pimps con canciones como Spin Spin Sugar, 6 Underground y Tesko Suicide, siendo en 2019 que materializara éste proyecto en conjunto al guitarrista franco brasileño Felipe Goes, tres años después de mudarse a Lille, Francia, teniendo en Preteretrospective, lanzado en Abril de 2023, su álbum debut, del cual ahora nos presentan el disco que le sucede y que vinieran anunciando con los sencillos One Scratch Each, Mars Attached y Tune Out, Turn Off, Drop In.

Come and Join The Beautiful Army EP fue mezclado y masterizado por Colin C en The Cell Studio, con un sonido basado más en los teclados para dar espacio y profundidad a las voces en aras de generar el impacto adecuado para el mensaje en cada canción.

I don’t know where the guitars went. I think the amount of guitar that ends up in a song depends on how angry, sad, or whatever I feel. I believe this is the kind of thing that gives me the energy to keep playing and finding new ways to make the songs work. I guess I must have made peace with the world since there’s almost no guitar in any of these songs! Rather ironic isn’t it? Lyrically, this EP is the opposite of peaceful!.

No sé adónde fueron las guitarras. Creo que la cantidad de guitarra que termina en una canción depende de lo enojado, triste o lo que sea que me sienta. Creo que este es el tipo de cosas que me dan la energía para seguir tocando y encontrar nuevas formas de hacer que las canciones funcionen. ¡Supongo que debo haber hecho las paces con el mundo ya que casi no hay guitarra en ninguna de estas canciones! Bastante irónico, ¿no? Líricamente, este EP es lo opuesto a ¡pacífico!.

This EP is a call for solidarity in a world constantly being sown with division and discord. So far, the start of the 21st Century seems remarkably like repeating the mistakes of the early 20th Century. In the First World War, all that flag-waving, jingoistic sense of and pride in nationality across Europe, the othering of governments and nations all engaged in the same exploitation of other continents, resulted in the most obscene and needless carnage and it feels today as if nothing has changed, save that rather than conscript us all and send us to France and Belgium for the slaughter, the big push would appear to be starving us to death in our own homes while we work all the hours of the day for a monthly wage that barely covers the cost of living.

The beautiful army would be the people who reject the pathetic culture wars of populists, who proceed with compassion and empathy rather than instantly resort to knee-jerk outrage and sincerely believe that the some kind of optimistic future can still be salvaged from the slow motion chaos of the inevitable car crash in which we are currently forced to be passengers.

I would question the obsession of brands, marketing and advertising, primarily, on pushing such a vain, shallow concept of the individual – it’s a face-value, nothing beneath the surface kind of ideal. We are all born individuals, that should never need to be overtly demonstrated and insisted upon, it’s quite obviously what we all are. It can’t be proved with trinkets and adornments. The more salient point would be how we all come together as individuals and make a difference, a change for the better for the majority. Maybe the beautiful army lies in the forests away from the trenches; deserters, conscientious objectors and those that have been driven shellshock mad by the constant, oppressive noise of manufactured, idiotic right-wing culture wars.

Este EP es un llamado a la solidaridad en un mundo constantemente sembrado de división y discordia. Hasta ahora, el comienzo del siglo XXI parece notablemente una repetición de los errores de principios del siglo XX. En la Primera Guerra Mundial, todo ese sentimiento patriotero y orgullo por la nacionalidad en toda Europa, la otredad de gobiernos y naciones involucradas en la misma explotación de otros continentes, resultó en la carnicería más obscena e innecesaria que hoy se siente. como si nada hubiera cambiado, salvo que en lugar de reclutarnos a todos y enviarnos a Francia y Bélgica para la matanza, el gran impulso parecería ser matarnos de hambre en nuestros propios hogares mientras trabajamos todas las horas del día para un salario mensual que apenas cubre el costo de vida.

El hermoso ejército sería la gente que rechaza las patéticas guerras culturales de los populistas, que proceden con compasión y empatía en lugar de recurrir instantáneamente a la indignación instintiva y creen sinceramente que algún tipo de futuro optimista aún puede salvarse del caos en cámara lenta, del inevitable accidente automovilístico en el que actualmente nos vemos obligados a ser pasajeros.

Yo cuestionaría la obsesión de las marcas, el marketing y la publicidad, principalmente, por impulsar un concepto tan vano y superficial del individuo: es un valor nominal, nada debajo de la superficie de un ideal. Todos nacemos individuos, eso nunca debería necesitar ser demostrado e insistido abiertamente, es bastante obvio lo que todos somos. No se puede demostrar con baratijas y adornos. El punto más destacado sería cómo nos unimos todos como individuos y marcamos una diferencia, un cambio para mejorar para la mayoría. Quizás el hermoso ejército se encuentre en los bosques, lejos de las trincheras; desertores, objetores de conciencia y aquellos que se han vuelto locos por el ruido constante y opresivo de las guerras culturales idiotas fabricadas por la derecha.

The Noise Who Runs tiene en éste material un auténtico y genuino acto de protesta que no solo funciona como crítica al mundo modernito sino que pone en evidencia la verdadera tendencia en el panorama global, por no decir la real alineación del actual régimen en el gobierno de México.

Come and Join The Beautiful Army EP pudiera tener sus puntos focales en los sencillos previos a su lanzamiento pero, en su conjunto, One Scratch Each, Tune Out, Turn Off, Drop In, Something in the Bones of Men, Vengeance is the Sweetener, Mars Attached, integran una colección de reflexiones a las cuales vale la pena escuchar para contrastar con la muy particular perspectiva de la realidad y así obtener las propias conclusiones respecto al sentido de éste disco, ya disponible en plataformas digitales como Spotify, Apple Music y Bandcamp.
