Mayflower Madame tiene en Prepared For A Nightmare un álbum de particular trascendencia para el individuo consciente de los tiempos que corren, de manera tal que en sus sencillos oficiales, Swallow y Vultures, o en The Night Before, inflige atmósferas para la reflexión que han sido retratadas en su correspondiente vídeo promocional y oficial por Astrid Serck, quien colabora con la banda para la realización visual del tercer extracto del álbum.

Sacred Core es la promesa, a manera de invocación, que define el nivel de daño recibido al establecer claramente que, sin importar cuánto pueda cambiar el exterior, o qué tanto pudieran haberte quitado al buscar eliminarte, lo cierto es que la satisfacción que significa seguir adelante es algo que, por más que intenten, no podrán quitarte porque tal es tu naturaleza.

Sacred Core is a song about getting lost, drifting away and trying to find the way back to your safe haven – guided by swirling, hypnotic guitars and an insistent, heavy beat. Compared to the shoegazey post-punk of the album’s previous singles ‘Vultures’ and ‘Swallow’, this track digs deeper into haunting, psychedelic territories, yet still maintaining our trademark dark and atmospheric sound.
Sacred Core es una canción sobre perderse, alejarse e intentar encontrar el camino de regreso a tu refugio seguro, guiado por guitarras giratorias e hipnóticas, y un ritmo insistente y pesado. En comparación con el shoegazey post-punk de los singles anteriores del álbum, ‘Vultures’ y ‘Swallow’, esta canción profundiza en territorios inquietantes y psicodélicos, pero aún mantiene nuestro sonido característico oscuro y atmosférico.

To me, the song is like an open landscape – it’s grounded, but at the same time moving. I wanted to capture that feeling visually with footage from windmill fields and beaches, where there’s constant movement – like a rhythm, as opposed to the solid ground. A contrast between motion and stillness. Something to hold on to as well as something loose and vibrating.
Para mí, la canción es como un paisaje abierto: tiene una base, pero al mismo tiempo se mueve. Quería capturar esa sensación visualmente con imágenes de campos de molinos de viento y playas, donde hay un movimiento constante, como un ritmo, opuesto a tierra firme. Un contraste entre movimiento y quietud. Algo a lo que aferrarse, así como algo suelto y vibrante.

The core is what you hold on to. The motion is what you can let go. The sunbeams are blinding you, like a sacred light. The ceiling of a church is another symbol for sanctity. The moon is dancing, in disturbing ways, on the screen. In the video there is also an abandoned house, left with the door open. It´s a metaphor for the feeling of something that is lost, you can go back there, but only the memories are left. In addition there’s live footage of the band filmed from shows in Oslo and San Diego.
El núcleo es a lo que te aferras. El movimiento es lo que puedes dejar ir. Los rayos del sol te están cegando, como una luz sagrada. El techo de una iglesia es otro símbolo de santidad. La luna está bailando, de manera inquietante, en la pantalla. En el video también hay una casa abandonada, que quedó con la puerta abierta. Es una metáfora de la sensación de algo perdido, puedes volver allí, pero solo quedan los recuerdos. Además, hay imágenes en vivo de la banda filmada en shows en Oslo y San Diego.
